The inaugural Irish Poker Festival is right around the corner, and hundreds of poker players from the United Kingdom, Ireland, and all across the world are making plans to head to the Irish capital city, Dublin, for this incredible series.
Whether you have managed to turn a €0.01 satellite win into an Irish Poker Festival MILLIONS Main Event package or you are planning to head to Dublin under your own steam, the PartyPoker Blog has put together a brief guide on how to get there, where to stay, and more.
The City of Dublin
Dublin is a fantastic city steeped in history, packed with things to see and do, and a nightlife that rivals even the most renowned party cities and towns. The River Liffey divides the city in two, and you can walk over it across the popular photography spot on the Ha’penny Bridge.
Those wanting to learn more about Dublin’s rich history should check out Dublin Castle, one of the city’s oldest landmarks. The Old Library of Trinity College Dublin holds the Book of Kells, one of the city’s most visited sites.
Dublin is home to more than 350 parks and green spaces, which are perfect for walking through and being with nature, especially if you have endured a bad beat at the poker tables.
Of course, Dublin also has more than its fair share of bars, pubs, and clubs. Temple Bar is the most famous of all Dublin pubs, and although quite pricey due to it attracting tourists from far and wide, it should be visited at least once.
The Venue
All the Irish Poker Festival action takes place in the elegant five-star Intercontinental Hotel. The hotel is Dublin’s only true five-star urban resort, situated on two acres of gardens, combining old-school glamour with traditional luxury.
You’ll find the hotel and venue on Simmonscout Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin, and the postcode is D0A A9K8.
Getting to Dublin
If you are heading to the festival from the United Kingdom, you could consider travelling by ferry to Dublin port, which would allow you to bring your car, making exploring Ireland easier before or after the festival.
However, most visitors will choose to arrive by air at Dublin Airport. Several international airlines, including Aer Lingus and Ryanair, service the airport, and flights to and from Ireland’s capital city are frequent.
Dublin Airport is located in the northwest of the city and is only a few minutes by bus or taxi to the Intercontinental Hotel.
