Cypriot Eftychios Georgiou has won the Mystery Bounty tournament at the Party Poker MILLIONS Malta Festival, scooping the first prize of €8,580 and €11,000 in bounties for a` total payout of €19,580. He defeated Hungarian Jozsef Fauzst in a short heads up battle, which was streamed live from Portomaso Casino in St Julians, Malta.
A total of 21 players had returned for Day 2 of the €1,100 buy-in event, with Georgiou sitting in 6th place on the overnight leaderboard. There were just nine bounties up for grabs, with varying values, the highest of which was €10,000. Once the final table was reached the bounties kicked in, but only three players managed to secure them. It was third place finisher Michel Molenaar who took the most from knockouts, sending four players to the rail and collecting €18,500 in the process, including the 10k.
Georgiou, who’s first name Eftychios translates as “good luck,” was delighted to have won the trophy, cheered on by his wife on the rail. This was pointed out to the commentary team, who then adopted this as his name for the rest of the stream. He describes himself as a part time grinder, part time opportunist and has certainly made the most of this opportunity. But its not his first success playing this exciting format, as he has played live mystery bounties twice before and won them both! This win completes his first triple crown at the format.
For 3rd place finisher Michel Molenaar this has been a very successful festival, having finished runner-up in the Hydra Entertainment High Roller. Scott Fingland, the 8th place finisher has also had a good run this week, making three final tables.
